Casting Stones: The Beginning
As the sunlight beamed bright in the beautiful spring sky, a young trainer walked quietly along the red, ashy ground of the Badlands. The light shone off of her maroon hair like wildfire, and her green eyes were narrowed calmly. Her body was thin and petite; a classy white cocktail dress clung to her slender hips and was defined by a purple under-bust corset. Her skin was so pale it was as if she were glowing.
At her feet trudged a Jolteon; his limber body held pace with the determined trainer as if he knew her every step before she did. His dark eyes watched the area with an alertness that could only come from years of training; his spiked yellow ears twitched with every movement or subtle scurry.
"Well, Voltage," Kat mused quietly, "it looks as if we have found our way back to the Badlands."
The spunky Pokemon barked happily in reply, shaking his hind spikes enthusiastically.
"It seems like we haven't been to the Badland Ranch in ages, don't you agree Voltage?" Kat grinned as they came over the rocky cliff that kept the quiet ranch hidden until the last moment. Her Jolteon ran a lap around her feet, barking and yipping happily, only causing her to smile more. "You're such a goof, my sweet pup."
She paused briefly, glancing at the Pokeball belt holder she had around her waist. "Do you think we should let everyone else out?" She inquired to her companion, who nodded happily at the thought.
"Alright then." Kat pulled a ball from her belt, pressing the release before tossing it in front of her. "Go, Mew!"
A blinding flash made her blink her eyes before it took shape in front of Kat. Her sweet mew, the only legendary Pokemon she had ever seen. It wasn't like she caught Mew, after all. The playful Pokemon had met her a year into her first Pokemon adventure. She had been eleven at the time, and the childish creature had bonded with her. Mew giggled happily, twisting and flipping in the air for no apparent reason.
"Now the rest of you! Charred!" She tossed another ball, and the large Charizard burst free from his container in a glorious cascade of flames. The spunky Pokemon bellowed fire into the air, roaring loudly and shaking his wings.
After her Charizard, Kat released her Sylveon Faye, followed by her shiny Umbreon Silence and her Shiny Vaporeon Ariel. All of her Pokemon shook off their grogginess and replaced it with enthusiasm. Most of them immediately remembered where they were.
"I know it's not home, guys," Kat sighed, being taken back to her home region of Kanto, "but it's still nice to take a break now and then, don't you think?"
She got a growl of approval from all of her Pokemon. Mew made silly faces behind Charred's back, smirking and floating away before he fully noticed. Kat snorted with laughter, making her mighty Charizard tilt his head to the side questioningly.
As they crossed the town's threshold, Kat stretched and yawned. "It has been way too long since we've had a good rest. Why don't we do something about digging up some food?"
"Meeeew!" Her psychic Pokemon agreed happily, landing half on her shoulder while the rest of it continued to float beside her.
